Sr. Mary Grace Walsh Appointed Schools Superintendent for Archdiocese of New York

Sr. Mary Grace Walsh, ASCJ, Ph.D., was appointed Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of New York by Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York. She currently serves as President of Cor Jesu Academy, our girls’ high school in St. Louis, and will begin her new position on July 1, 2023.

An alumna of Sacred Heart Academy, our girls’ high school in Hamden, Connecticut, Sr. Mary Grace has dedicated her life to strengthening Catholic education. She served the Archdiocese of Hartford from 2016–2020 as Provost for Education, Evangelization and Catechesis, and as President of St. Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield. Prior to that, she served as both Superintendent of Schools and Secretary of Education and Faith Formation for the Diocese of Bridgeport. 

Cardinal Dolan said the Archdiocese looks forward to welcoming Sr. Mary Grace to the team.

An alumna of Sacred Heart Academy, our girls’ high school in Connecticut, Sr. Mary Grace holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Albertus Magnus College, a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision from Saint Louis University, and a Ph.D. in educational administration/church leadership from Fordham University. She is on the Board of Directors for the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) and the Board of Trustees for Foundations in Education.
