Cor Jesu Convent Project

Help create a healthy home for oUr sisters at Cor Jesu!
Since Cor Jesu Academy was founded by Sr. Anita Marie Giampetro in 1956, a long line of Apostles have lovingly ministered within its walls as teachers and administrators. An even greater number of Apostles have called the adjoining convent “home” since it was constructed in 1965. More than 100 Apostles have resided at the convent throughout the years. The Apostles currently living there serve at Cor Jesu Academy as well as other ministries in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. In addition, Sisters in formation are often sent on mission to St. Louis and reside at Cor Jesu.
Unfortunately, significant renovations and repairs are needed to maintain a safe and healthy living environment. Multiple evaluations of the convent have revealed asbestos, mold, water damage and a failing HVAC system. While many options were considered, including tearing down the existing convent and building new, the most efficient and cost-effective option is to renovate the current structure.
Your generous support will allow us to make the necessary renovations an repairs, including:
- New windows throughout the convent
- A new HVAC system
- Asbestos abatement
- Updated plumbing
- Kitchen updates
- ADA compliant bathrooms
- Chapel renovation
- Installation of an elevator
