The Apostles Rise Against Hunger

Published: July 2018

The Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus spent an afternoon during their Provincial Gathering volunteering with the organization, Rise Against Hunger. In just over an hour, the Sisters packaged over 12,000 meals to be shipped to needy families in South Africa.

“It was truly a unifying experience to be able to come together as a Province and work for the needs of these families. I believe they won’t just be fed by us physically but also nourished spiritually by the unity that was among us when we packaged their meals,” said Sr. Estelle Barelli, ASCJ.

Rise Against Hunger is driven by the vision of a world without hunger. The organization’s mission is to end hunger in our lifetime by providing food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable and creating a global commitment to mobilize the necessary resources. Rise Against Hunger works to meet immediate nutritional needs today and empower the ability to build strong, resilient communities tomorrow by promoting sustainable solutions to hunger.
