Don’t see your question below? Please reach out to Sr. Maureen Martin, Acts of the Apostles Director and Volunteer Coordinator.

Are women and men invited to participate in your service programs?

The weeklong Acts of the Apostles program is designed for women 18 to 35. However, ongoing service opportunities at any of our sites are open to men and women of all ages. These service opportunities do not include residential stay and are offered at an Apostle ministry in the volunteer’s area.

Are there any expenses or costs associated with weeklong service?

The Apostles cover room and board during your week of service. We only ask the volunteer to cover the cost of transportation to and from the service site. Some scholarship funds are available for those needing help with transportation costs. Any other personal expenses/touring costs will be your responsibility.

Will I receive a stipend?

No, you will not receive a stipend for your service. The experience is the reward!

Do I need to have previous volunteer experience to apply?

While the application asks about your past work and volunteer experience, previous experience is not required. We inquire about past experience on the application as a way to appropriate placement. We are looking for motivated individuals with giving hearts.

What other steps would I need before serving in an Apostle ministry?

In most of our ministries, we require that volunteers have participated in a safety awareness program such as Protecting God’s Children Virtus training; these brief trainings are usually offered in each diocese. Each participant must also pass a background check.

Will I be trained in the skills I will need for the week of service?

Yes, each program will provide the orientation and training required. The greatest skills needed are openheartedness and an enthusiasm for sharing your gifts!

How can I arrange a time to volunteer on a regular basis?

We try to be flexible in our volunteer opportunities to accommodate diverse needs and interests. If you have an interest in volunteering at any of the sites listed, just fill out the service application or email us and we will be in touch!

I am not connected with a church/parish group. Can I still volunteer?

Yes! Religious affiliation is not a requirement. However, we are looking for compassionate individuals with big hearts. We incorporate prayer and reflection into the weeklong Acts of the Apostles program, so we do want you to feel comfortable participating with the group.
